Telling a Story...
The last couple of months I have been experimenting with taking time-lapse videos showing the creation of my artwork. These can be accessed by going to my Instagram account annamcneill_artist.
I shall also be posting videos and recipes for those who are interested in how I make my own oil paints from grinding rocks to produce powdered pigments, to then mixing with the respective binders: oil, egg tempera, gum arabic and plasticises.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.
The point of this storytelling is to primarily share with the buyer how the picture was produced and adds a further providence for the art collector.
The Year that was 2017
Art is a dialect and rich when shared. In all creative endeavours, whether it be music, story-telling or visual art, the artist mistaking something that has no form until it has been transposed from the initial spark in the mind to the resulting media. It is only then that thought is given life.
In my humble opinion, I find the gift of creativity overwhelming. It is the thought that I am an international selling artist. Long after I die and my corpse has rotted away, giving life to the environment; somewhere my artwork will live on.
Painting requires me to be vulnerable. What I produce is an outward expression of my mind, heart and soul. Last years collection was very much focussed on nature, the world and light.
